The Story of Huntington Horse & Hound
Huntington Horse & Hound was founded from a deep love for animals and a commitment to compassionate care. Our family’s journey began in Simcoe County’s equine community, but Louise’s passion for animal care started much earlier. At just 13, she dedicated herself to working with horses, developing a deep understanding of animal behavior. Over the years, her experience expanded to include canine companions, attending multiple training sessions with her own dogs and even working with emotional therapy service dogs for children.
Recognizing the connection between horses and dogs, Louise applied the same principles of trust, patience, and positive reinforcement from her studies in Parelli Natural Horsemanship to canine care. When she and Mark purchased Huntington Lane in 2017, caring for over 35 horses daily, they knew they wanted to extend the same level of care to dogs.
In 2019, the vision for Huntington Horse & Hound became a reality. Despite the challenges of opening during a pandemic, our mission never wavered—to create a safe, loving environment where pets feel at home while their owners are away.
Today, our dedicated team provides exceptional care, treating every guest like family. We look forward to welcoming you and your beloved pets.
